Catherine Hanneford is working her Liberty Horses while the live music is being provided by Mike Negal on drums and yours truly, Pete, playing keys on the stage at the rear left of the picture. A band is setting up on the center stage area, preparing for the upcoming "name act" concert that followed - don't know who the main act was but many famous performers worked the Swap Shop regularly during this period, including Willie Nelson, Barbara Mandrel, Marie Osmond, Blood Sweat & Tears, The Drifters, Three Dog Night, The Coasters, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Peter Noone, Charlie Daniels, The Oakridge Boys, KC and the Sunshine Band, Jose Feliciano, Roy Clarke, Tiny Tim, Paul Revere and the Raiders, and many others. All the shows were presented, as is the circus, FREE of charge to the public (except for preferred seating). Many things have changed since this picture was taken including the addition of a computerized lighting system, a permanent sound/ lighting/ camera console that resides in the same location as the photographer stood when he took this shot, and beautiful red velvet curtains now span the area behind the stage, all the way from the railings on the left to the railings on the right - hiding the backstage area. The building has also been enlarged, though the circus area remains the same. Unfortunately, there is no longer a live band playing the show, though there are still occasional concerts.
