INTRODUCTION AND CHAPTERS

To consider writing a history of a family like the Hannefords in a page or two is an impossible task. To give the entire day to day history is the subject of a book (indeed one was written - albeit seemingly out of print) and not for a web site. Therefore, I've opted to try to tell their story in as succinct a manner as possible without leaving out too many of the important events. To facilitate reading I've divided it up into short chapters, omitting most of the story of George Jr. and Victoria as they have their own page elsewhere on this site - except where it is important to the main story. Likewise Catherine and George III. Listed on the left are links to each chapter. Each chapter links to the next - should you desire to read the whole story in one sitting - plus links to the other chapters in case you wish to skip foward, or back, a chapter or two.
Unfortunately the are no pictures of the Hannefords available much before the late 19th century (none that we know of, anyhow) so most of the images are from the twentieth. Like the bulk of this site, as new material becomes available it will be posted.

ANYONE FROM IRELAND PLEASE NOTE: According to one visitor to our show a few years ago, there is a circus museum somewhere in Ireland that has information and pictures of the Hanneford Circus during its nine year tour there, from 1903 to 1911. If you know anything about this, or can give us details where we can find any information about this museum, or, indeed, have any pictures of the Hanneford show from that period, we are very interested in obtaining copies of those pictures, or anything else that's pertinent to our family. If anybody else has pictures they would like to share with us, and our web site guests, of the early days of the Hannefords, we would be grateful too. Thank you
